A woman was left red-faced when she accidentally flashed her bum after her legging got "sucked off" on a treadmill.

Alyssa Konkel, from Illionois in US, admitted the embarrassing incident left her scarred and she now has a fear of the running machine.

The 26-year-old visited the gym on May 24 and hopped on the treadmill for a run.

But CCTV captured the unfortunate moment when she tripped over her shoelace - and exposed herself to everyone.

Alyssa, who wore a pink tank top and black yoga pants, fell on her knee and had to grab onto handles.

A woman noticed the accident and turned around to offer her a hand.

But the running machine kept spinning and caught on Alyssa's leggings - eventually dragging her pants down and exposing her bum.

She let go of her hands and slid to the ground.

Alyssa quickly put her pants on and the woman turned back and walked away.

"I felt so embarrassed. I had to leave immediately. I was just running at the gym and my pants got sucked off!" she said.

"This also happened when I was 10 years old and skinned my chin, so now I’m really afraid of treadmills."

The gym-goer recalled setting running machine at the speed of 10.

She continued: "It was only when I watched the video back that I saw my shoelace was untied and I tripped and fell.

"I jumped up like up like a boss immediately to pull my pants up because my butt was showing and that's where I let go.

"I hurt myself my face, lip, knees and shins are skinned."

Luckily the gym was fairly quiet and the woman who saw the incident came back to her and asked if she was okay.

The video went viral on Twitter and left viewers giggling.

One shared: "This is why I no longer wear a thong at gym!"

"This is my worst nightmare, poor traumatised thing," another commented and a third added: "I would quit that gym and move far away if that happened to me."
