Summerfest 2023, June 9th and 10th
Welcome in the summer season in spectacular style with SUMMERFEST 2023, a two-day extravaganza unfolding in Fergus Falls on Friday and Saturday, June 9-10.
The festivities will be taking place at Kirkbride Park, located at 1599 N Union Ave, with free admission and parking for all attendees.
Summerfest 2023 aims to be a vibrant celebration of summer, offering a wealth of attractions against the stunning backdrop of Kirkbride Tower and Park.
The event assures a medley of activities for all age groups, ensuring a memorable beginning to the summer season.
Young guests can look forward to a delightful assortment of activities such as corn boxes, pony rides, a petting zoo, trampoline jumping, and more.
The event will also spur creativity with various art projects on offer.
Live music performances are scheduled to add a festive spirit, while a plethora of food vendors will ensure that attendees can savor a range of delectable treats.
Beverages will be available to keep visitors refreshed throughout the event.
The evening will sparkle with a spectacular fireworks display lighting up the night sky, further enhancing the festive atmosphere.
But the excitement doesn't stop there; SUMMERFEST also includes a lively parade.
The festival will feature a mix of merchant, vendor, and non-profit booths, adding to the diverse offerings at SUMMERFEST and making it an unmissable event.
The highlight of the second day is the Parade, scheduled to start at 6 PM on Saturday, June 10, with staging beginning from 5 PM on Cavour Avenue.
Participants can access the staging area from behind the Ottertail County Museum. The parade route begins at the intersection of Oak Street & Lincoln Avenue.
Floats will head south on Oak Street before turning left onto Lincoln Avenue, then left onto Friberg, culminating at Friberg and Mt. Faith.
On Friday, June 9, the Main Stage will feature performances by Elise Rogholt (12:00 – 1:00), David Stoddard (1:15 – 2:15), and Anthony Miltich (2:30 – 3:30).
Other activities include a community art project by Kaddatz Galleries (12:00 – 4:00), the Freedom Flight Flag Ceremony (6:00 – 6:30), a Jigsaw Puzzle Competition (6:30 – 7:30), and a performance by The Johnny Holm Band (7:00 – 10:15).
Jeff Johnson, member of the Summerfest Committee shared,
"Freedom Flight is a hot air balloon mia-pow hot air balloon that they started in 1989 it a nonprofit for education corporation to honor the sacrifices of our military personnel", "We are very lucky to get them to come to Fergus Falls".
A movie in the park (9:30 – 10:15) will precede the fireworks at 10:15 PM.
Other entertainment options include tethered Hot-air Balloon, Freedom Flight rides, weather permitting, and a myriad of games and activities throughout the day.
Saturday, June 10, will begin at dawn with Freedom Flight rides for veterans and military personnel, weather permitting.
The Main Stage will host a dog show (10:00 – 11:00) after registration (9:00 – 10:00), followed by performances by Fancy and the Functional (1:00 – 2:00), The Winter Sloths (2:30 – 3:30), and Heather and Thistle Pipes and Drums (3:45 – 4:45).
The parade begins at 6:00 PM.
Other attractions include a Home Depot building activity (9:30), Trowbridge Creek Zoo (11:00 – 4:00), and a community art project by Kaddatz Galleries (12:00 – 4:00). A variety of games and activities will be available throughout the day.
