Getting fit and healthy is a top priority for many people, and there are a plethora of fitness training options from which to choose.
From strength training to yoga, Pilates, swimming, boxing, cycling, aerobic training, running and circuit training, the options are endless.
The important thing is to find something you enjoy and that will keep you active and motivated.
In this column, I will tell you about many of the different fitness training options you may or may not have heard of — and maybe you will try some of them out!

The first fitness training style, and my love, is strength training.
Strength training is an excellent option for anyone looking to build muscle and improve overall fitness.
This type of training involves lifting weights or using resistance machines to target specific muscle groups.
Strength training can be done with free weights, machines or even your own body weight.
It's a great way to increase muscle mass, improve bone density and boost metabolism.
I do strength-based training workouts for free on TikTok everyday at 9 a.m. EST. If you are looking to try this option, you can follow my account, which I will provide below.
The next training types that we will discuss are yoga and Pilates.
Yoga and Pilates are popular forms of exercise that focus on flexibility, strength and balance.
Yoga involves performing a series of postures and stretches that help to increase flexibility and improve posture.
Pilates is a series of exercises that focus on core strength, flexibility and stability.
Both forms of exercise are low-impact and can be done by people of all fitness levels.
Many communities have yoga and Pilates studios, so if you are interested in this option, search for a studio near you.
One of my other favorite forms of fitness training is swimming.
Swimming is a fantastic form of cardiovascular exercise that is easy on the joints.
It's a great way to improve cardiovascular fitness and build endurance.
Swimming can also help to build muscle and improve overall strength. It's a low-impact exercise that is perfect for people with joint pain or injuries.
I had an injury a few years ago that required me to have surgery, but I remember using swimming as a great way to get back into the swing of things slowly.
So if you are slowly starting your journey back up, or you would like something that is low impact, you may want to try this option.
Let's talk about one of my fathers favorite fitness training options, which is boxing!
Boxing is a high-intensity workout that can help to build strength, improve cardiovascular fitness and reduce stress.
Boxing involves a series of punches and footwork that require coordination and balance.
It's a great way to get a full-body workout and improve overall fitness.
Although my dad no longer boxes, he did for some time. He did this as I grew up, he really enjoyed it and it definitely kept him in shape!
Then there is cycling, which is also an extremely popular fitness training style.
Cycling is a great form of cardio that can be done indoors or outdoors.
It's a low-impact exercise that is perfect for people with joint pain or injuries.
Cycling can help to improve cardiovascular fitness, build endurance and burn calories.
It's a great way to get out in the fresh air and enjoy the scenery.
Cycling is a great option for everyone, and it also encourages us to go outside, which we all need to do more often.
The next training style, aerobic exercise, is the most challenging to me, but many people favor it.
Aerobic training is any type of exercise that gets your heart rate up and keeps it elevated for a period of time.
This can include activities like running, jumping jacks or dancing.
Aerobic exercise is great for improving cardiovascular fitness, burning calories and reducing the risk of heart disease.
The next type of training is the most challenging to me, but it allows me to push myself to my limits, and set new goals.
This training style is a specific type of aerobic exercise, which is running.
Running is a popular form of cardio that can be done most anywhere, at any time.
It's a high-impact exercise that can help to improve cardiovascular fitness, build endurance and burn calories.
Running can also help to improve bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis.
Again, I am personally not the best at running, but we all have room for improvement, so I am currently working at becoming a little bit better each day.
The last type of fitness training style we are going to discuss is circuit training.
Circuit training is a type of workout that involves moving from one exercise to another with little rest in between.
Circuit training can include a variety of exercises, such as strength training, cardio and core work.
It's a great way to get a full-body workout in a short amount of time. This is another fitness style that I am quite familiar with, and try to incorporate into my weekly routines.
I like to switch up my training style every so often, so I can try new things, push myself and not get bored of one particular style.
Overall, the most important thing when it comes to fitness training is finding something that you enjoy and that will keep you motivated.
If you hate running, then don't force yourself to do it. Try out different types of exercise and find what works best for you. The most important thing is to get active and stay active.
It's also important to remember that fitness training is not a one-size-fits-all solution. What works for one person may not work for another.
Some people may enjoy the challenge of strength training, while others may prefer the relaxation of yoga or Pilates.
It's all about finding what works best for you and your lifestyle. Fitness should be fun, so make it fun!
Do what you have to do in order to enjoy it. Put on your favorite workout outfit, so you feel confident. Play your favorite music, and get into the zone.
Lastly, look at yourself in the mirror, and be proud you showed up.
