WINDSOR LOCKS – The Windsor Locks Library at 28 Main St. will be hosting a board game morning for adults (ages 16+) on Saturday, June 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Come on your own or bring some friends. All experience levels are welcome. Advance registration is required – register online at www.windsorlockslibrary.org/programs or call 860-627-1495.

The library will have games available, but if you would like to bring one of your own and are willing to teach it to others, send an email to [email protected].

ENFIELD – The Enfield Safe Harbor Warming Center is seeking volunteers and donations. Visit https://enfieldsafeharbor.org/ for more information.

Assistance is needed for Thursday evenings starting June 1, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. One to two employees and one to two volunteers are needed.

The summer needs lists is as follows: Cases of bottled water, grab-and-go snacks, chips, water singles, face cloths, baby wipes/body wipes, deodorant, lip balm, sunscreen, bug spray, low-cut socks, men and women's underwear, and reusable and/or plastic shopping bags. Superman Storytime: Monday, June 12, from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Kidspace will host a special storytime to celebrate Superman Day. Join for an "everything" Superman and Supergirl fun storytime for ages 2-5 years old along with their caregiver. Stories, jokes, poems, songs and crafts are all part of this program.

Paint Outside the Lines: Monday, June 12, and taking place weekly on Mondays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The library will set up an art studio outdoors at the Wilson Branch. When done, enjoy a story and snack. Drop-in.

Art of the Book: Monday, June 12, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Boring books be banished. Calligrapher Debby Reelitz will take guests on a journey exploring creative art books. Make two book structures of your own. Sponsored by Windsor Library Association.

Mad Science: Tuesday, June 13, from 6 to 7 p.m. Let's get whacky with Mad Science in Kidspace, with fun and kid friendly science experiments. Ages 6 to 12.

Lego Creations: Wednesday, June 14, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Eager engineers ages 7 and up are invited to design and build their own LEGO Creations at the Wilson Branch Library. On the second and fourth Wednesday of every month this summer, the library will set out a new design challenge to complete. Drop in.

Family Game Night: Wednesday, June 14, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. All ages welcome.

Art Afternoon: Thursday, June 15, from 4 to 5 p.m. Monthly Art Afternoon welcomes school age children 6-11 years old to Kidspace. At each session, learn about a different artist or art style and then create our own masterpieces.

African Harp Concert with Sean Gaskell: Thursday, June 15, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Musician Sean Gaskell will give a performance and demonstration on the kora, an ancient 21-stringed harp from West Africa. The kora is traditionally played by oral historians known as Griots, often called Jalis or Jelis. Many of the songs tell stories of war, hardship, love and loss, all while presenting the history and fabric of Mande society.

Dancin’ with Hula Hoops: Saturday, June 17, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., on the Wilson Branch Lawn. Join Judi Jones for a musical and interactive Hoop Dancing party. Dancin’ with Hoops blends creative movement, dance, exercise and play. Following, Jones will entertain with a high energy hula hoop performance. Custom Hula Hoops will be provided for use and one lucky winner will take home a custom hula hoop after the event.

WINDSOR – In collaboration with the CT Office of Tourism, Windsor features a wide range of museums and arts attractions that are free to all for Saturday, June 10, CT Open House Day.

The Windsor Arts and Museum Association is a collaboration of seven museums, arts and cultural organizations located in Windsor. Participating organizations include the Connecticut Valley Tobacco Museum, Mercy Gallery at Loomis Chaffee School, Oliver Ellsworth Homestead, The Vintage Radio and Communications Museum, Windsor Art Center, Windsor Freedom Trail, and Windsor Historical Society. Most organizations are participating in Open House Day, see websites below for details.

Windsor sites offer free admission and many special programs for people of all ages and interests, throughout CT Open House Day.

WINDSOR – Join the volunteer driver team at Nutmeg Senior Rides and help a friend you haven't met yet with a ride to the doctor, work, the store, a friend's house or to church.

Nutmeg Senior Rides is a not-for-profit 501 c3 and they need drivers in North Central Connecticut to drive people over 50 who can no longer drive to get where they need to be. Drivers can choose the rides they do online to fit their schedule. Mileage is reimbursed at $ .40 per mile door to door from home.An information luncheon session hosted by Martin McMahon of Edward Jones is being heldTuesday June 13, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Jim's Pizza, 124 Poquonock Ave. Reservations are required. SOMERSVILLE – Bargains galore can be found each Saturday at Ye Olde Blacksmith Shoppe, located at the intersection of Pinney Road and Maple Street. The Shoppe, operated by the Ladies Aide Society of the Congregational Church of Somersville, will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday during June. Inventory includes toys and games, kitchenware, books, tools, smaller furniture and more.

SOMERS – The Somers Women's Club is holding a raffle to help support its scholarship fund. The top three prizes are $100 worth of CT Scratch Lottery Tickets; Somers Star Hardware Gift Card, $100; and Board & Brush Gift Card, $73. There are six prizes available. The drawing for the raffle will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, at Somers Pizza, 106 Main St.

ENFIELD – Enfield Loaves and Fishes, dedicated to providing relief to anyone suffering from food insecurity in the community, will host its 40th Anniversary Gala. Tickets are on sale now. On Tuesday, June 13, at 6:30 p.m., Rhyme Time, a half hour of nursery rhymes, songs, and finger plays,, will take place. This is a drop-in program that is designed to promote early language skills for ages birth to 24 months, accompanied by parents or caregivers.

History of the Stars & Stripes with James Meehan will take place Wednesday, June 14, at 6:30 p.m. History of the Stars and Stripes shows examples of some of America's earliest flags and explains the symbolism and history behind these designs. The presentation timeline begins on June 14, 1777 and features the flag's role in historical events throughout the 21st century, as well as its application to American painting, photography, and commercial arts.

Meet Author Andrew Lam, M.D. will take place Thursday, June 15, at 6:30 p.m. Lam will discuss his book, Masters of Medicine: Our Greatest Triumphs in the Race to Cure Humanity's Deadliest Diseases. Masters of Medicine is an in-depth look at the mavericks, moments, and mistakes that sparked the greatest medical discoveries in modern times—plus the cures that will help us live longer and healthier lives in this century . . . and beyond.

Enfield Library's 22nd annual Vehicle Day is right around the corner. The library is still seeking vehicles to participate. Vehicles of all shapes, sizes and colors will be at the library on Saturday, June 17, from 10 a.m. to noon. Free ice cream from the ice cream truck will be available.
